Drama for Democrary

Active Inquiry

Drama for Democracy is a five year Legislative Theatre project, working with Active Inquiry’s Spect-Act Network, with the aim of using Scottish theatre spaces as sites for participatory democracy.

The Spect-Act network includes participants with experience of homelessness and addiction, BME women who are survivors of domestic violence, and adults with mental health difficulties.

After successful performances in community venues in 2022, we are moving on to the next stage of the project. This involves us working with Civic Digits and The Binks Hub at the University of Edinburgh to develop ideas for the policies we would like to target and how we can integrate digital technology into the project. The plan is to then develop a full piece of Legislative Theatre to tour around theatre spaces in Scotland in 2024 and 2025.
